AMMAN, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's King Abdullah II on Wednesday received European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and discussed cooperation between Jordan and the European Union (EU) in various fields, in addition to the latest regional and international developments.

The king appreciated the EU for its support to Jordan, especially for its Syrian refugee response, calling on the international community to continue to provide support to Jordan, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The meeting also covered means to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic consequences, where the king reiterated the need to make vaccines available for all countries.

The EU chief expressed support to Jordan and its efforts to safeguard its security and stability.
