CAIRO, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit on Thursday discussed here with Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides the latest developments at the regional and international levels, according to a statement by the Cairo-based pan-Arab bloc.
They explored means of promoting cooperation with the Arab countries in the light of the special ties connecting Cyprus and the Arab world, the statement said.
The Ukrainian crisis was also among their talking points.
Aboul-Gheit called for finding a diplomatic solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict that leads to a cease-fire, so as to mitigate the crisis's repercussions on the food security in the region and curb the negative impacts of the rising living costs on the security of the Arab countries.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments of the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis, and ways of benefiting from the energy sources in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
