The Council holds a briefing this morning on the situation in Syria, under its agenda item on the situation in the Middle East.
Geir O. Pedersen, Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Syria, will brief on political developments, and Tom Fletcher, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, will brief on humanitarian developments in the country.
The delegations of Syria, Iran, Türkiye and Qatar will participate in the meeting under Rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure.
