Iran Condemns Israels Ongoing Aggression Against Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran has condemned Israels repeated attacks on Syria, denouncing them as violations of international law and a grave threat to regional peace and security.

Addressing a UN Security Council meeting on Syria on Thursday, Iran's permanent ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, said the Council must not remain silent in the face of Israels destabilizing actions.

The Security Council should not ignore the ongoing destabilizing actions of the Israeli regime in Syria, Iravani said.

He warned that Israels repeated strikes had caused civilian casualties, destroyed vital infrastructure, and heightened regional tensions.

Iravani stressed that Iran categorically rejects any attempt to undermine Syrias sovereignty, alter its demographic composition, and fragment its territory.

He also called for an immediate end to Israels occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights, describing it as a violation of the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.

The ambassador further highlighted the continuing presence of Daesh (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda in Syria, saying their activities still pose a serious threat to regional and international security.

He reaffirmed Irans position that only a Syrian-led, Syrian-owned political process can safeguard the rights and aspirations of the Syrian people.

The situation in Syria has been further complicated by the presence of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), led by Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, whose tacit inaction toward Israeli incursions has, according to analysts, emboldened Tel Aviv to intensify its operations.

Israeli forces have deployed across at least nine positions inside southern Syria, many of them within the UN-monitored buffer zone. While Israel claims the move is to counter Takfiri militants, the deployment has coincided with a broader strategy of territorial expansion.

Alongside these ground positions, Israeli forces have escalated their bombardment of Syrias civilian and military infrastructure. The strikes have worsened humanitarian suffering and systematically eroded Syrias capacity to defend its sovereignty against occupation.
