TEHRAN (Tasnim) The Iranian Foreign Ministrys spokesperson strongly condemned the Zionist regimes military attacks on Syria, stressing the need for immediate action by the international community to end the Israeli crimes.
- Politics news -In a statement on Saturday, Esmaeil Baqaei vehemently condemned the Israeli regimes strikes on various parts of Syria and the bomb attacks that have destroyed civilian sites and defense facilities in Damascus, Latakia, Idlib, Hama, Quneitra and Daraa.
He denounced the Israeli regimes recurrent acts of aggression against Syria, strikes on the Arab countrys strategic assets as well as the civilian and military infrastructures, and the continual occupation of parts of Syria.
It has now become clear that the Zionist regime seeks to destroy the defense, economic and infrastructural capabilities of Syria as a sovereign state in order to pursue its sinister objectives in the Arab country and the region, and at the same time continue with genocidal crimes in Palestine and commit acts of aggression against Lebanon, he warned.
The spokesman also reiterated Irans principled and unchanging policy of stressing the need to protect Syrias territorial integrity, dignity and national sovereignty as an independent state and a great nation that is influential in the security and stability of the West Asia region.
Baqaei reminded all involved parties of their responsibility in the formation of the status quo in Syria after the ground was prepared for the Israeli regime to carry out its abusive and expansionist policies in Syria.
The cessation of the Zionist regimes bellicosity and acts of aggression against Syria requires immediate and effective action by the international community, specifically the regional countries. Accordingly, it is necessary for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to employ the existing mechanisms to compel the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its duty in the face of lawbreaking and violation of peace by the Israeli regime, the Iranian spokesman concluded.
The Israeli regime on Friday launched several military strikes across Syria, including around Damascus and its vicinity, as well as in the countryside of Hama.
