On Sunday, Tartous Port received a direct shipment from China, marking the resumption of trade relations with the economic powerhouse as Syria continues its efforts to recover economically after years of war.
The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports announced on its official Telegram Channel that the commercial vessel Queen Vivian arrived from the Peoples Republic of China, carrying more than 16,000 tons of steel and various equipment for the Shanghai company. This is the first direct import operation from China through this port, and the unloading process began immediately, the statement added.
In addition, Tartous Port received another significant delivery this month: a cargo ship from Brazil carrying 32,800 metric tons of raw sugar. This shipment is part of Syria's broader strategy to stabilize food supplies through maritime trade, supporting local markets and enhancing economic stability.
These arrivals highlight the growing role of Tartous Port as a key hub in Syrias renewed focus on expanding maritime trade. With direct shipments from major global trade partners, the port is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening Syrias international trade relations, facilitating access to essential goods, and advancing the countrys long-term economic recovery.
