Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassanal-Shaibanion Wednesday began his first official visit to the United Kingdom for talks with British officials on bilateral and regional issues.
The minister wrote on X: Under the guidance of President Ahmad al-Sharaa, we are traveling to theUnited Kingdomon our first official visit.
We carry with us the hopes and aspirations of the Syrian people to build a nation that safeguards the future of our children and generations to come, the minister added.
Britain lifted sanctions on President Ahmad al-Sharaa last week, following a similar decision by the United Nations Security Council.
The visit comes just two days after President al-Sharaas trip to the White House, where he met with U.S. President Donald Trump. In mid-October, he also held talks with the Russian president at the Kremlin.
The Syrian government is intensifying efforts to re-engage with the international community after more than a decade of diplomatic isolation.
