Trkiye blasts Israel for strikes near Syria's capital

ANKARA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Trkiye on Friday condemned Israel for its latest strikes on the Syrian village of Beit Jinn near Damascus, which have killed at least 13 people and wounded more than two dozen others.

The Israeli latest attacks "must be brought to an immediate end," Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Keceli said in a statement posted on X.

Israel has once again demonstrated its "destructive agenda" with its attacks on Beit Jinn, Keceli said.

"Israel is violating Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity through its military operations, posing a threat to civilians and regional stability," he added.

The Israeli assault followed a ground incursion that prompted clashes with local residents early Friday, Syrian authorities, rescue teams, and eyewitnesses said.

The raid marks one of the most lethal Israeli operations inside Syria since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government in December 2024.
