Ankara sees reconstruction opportunities with Seoul in Syria and Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoansaid Turkey sees opportunities to work with South Korea in multiple regions of the world, including reconstruction efforts in Syria and the Gaza Strip, during a joint press conference with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in the Turkish capital.

Anadolu Agency quoted Erdoan as saying that Ankara identifies work opportunities with Seoul in Iraq, Africa, Central Asia, and in the reconstruction of Syria and Gaza. He noted that Turkey and South Korea share a common position on Gaza, including calls to maintain the ceasefire, prevent the killing of civilians and support a two-state solution.

Erdoan also said Turkey will continue its diplomatic efforts to help achieve lasting peace in Ukraine, referring to contacts held through the Istanbul talks.

For his part, President Lee stated that the strategic partnership between Seoul and Ankara will grow stronger and move on to future generations.

Erdoan had renewed his supportive position toward the Palestinians two days earlier, stressing the importance of consolidating the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip during meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
