PanARMENIAN.Net - Editor of the Aleppo-based Armenian weekly Gandzasar, Zarmik Poghikian, said that clashes damaged the home of an Armenian family and that a cautious calm currently prevails in the city, reports Pastinfo.

"The apartment of an elderly Armenian woman was partially set on fire, but the blaze was quickly extinguished and she was not injured. Some other apartments also sustained material damage.

At present, there is a cautious calm. Today, schools, universities, and state institutions are closed. They are expected to reopen tomorrow. A ceasefire has been declared at this moment, and negotiations are underway between the sides," Poghikian said.

According to the published information, the damage was recorded in areas adjacent to Kurdish neighborhoods of the city. Aleppo has two Kurdish districts located close to areas with Armenian populations. Since the start of the confrontation, the Aleppo National Prelacy has already urged members of the Armenian community not to leave their homes.

Clashes erupted in Aleppo between forces of Syria's central government and Kurdish forces, resulting in fatalities and injuries. On the eve of the clashes, Turkey's foreign minister and the head of the country's intelligence service visited Damascus. Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Turkey does not want to resume military operations against the Syrian Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), but warned that patience is running out due to delays in implementing the integration agreement.
