PanARMENIAN.Net - Renewed clashes have erupted in the predominantly Armenian-populated district of Aleppo, Syria, forcing the Armenian community to cancel the post-Christmas Memorial Day service due to security concerns, reports Gandzasar.

"We ask everyone to pray at home for the souls of the departed," the message reads.

Earlier, the same source reported that, by order of the governor, all schools and government institutions in Halep would remain closed on January 7, with all public gatherings and events banned.

Halep Airport also suspended operations for 24 hours.

The clashes involve the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and units loyal to the Damascus government. According to RIA Novosti, four people have been killed and more than twenty wounded.

There is a large influx of refugees from neighborhoods affected by shelling.

On January 5, new negotiations were held in Damascus regarding the integration of Kurdish armed groups into the Syrian armed forces. The Kurdish side reported progress, but said further coordination of details is needed.
