PanARMENIAN.Net - Aleppo International Airport will resume operations on January 20, according to Syria's Civil Aviation Authority. The air connection will be restored in line with the approved flight schedule, the authority said, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.

The decision follows the completion of all required technical inspections and safety assessments.

The airport had suspended operations due to a military offensive by Syrian government forces against Kurdish units of the Syrian Democratic Forces in Aleppo's Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh districts.

Government troops, acting under the orders of Syria's transitional government, have regained control over these areas following the offensive. Reports indicate casualties and injuries on both sides of the conflict, with civilians also affected. Hundreds of thousands were forced to flee their homes, while the remaining Kurdish fighters retreated.
