Al-Bakour meets UN commission to review field visit findings

Sweida, Dec.2 (SANA)SweidaGovernorMustafa al-Bakour, discussed Tuesday with the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria the latest developments regarding the commissions work and to review the preliminary findings following its field visit to the province.

In a statement to SANA, al-Bakkour emphasized the provinces readiness to provide all logistical and security support necessary to enable the commission to perform its duties efficiently and transparently. He noted that the meeting focused on updates regarding the commissions activities and the conclusions it had reached.

We provided all necessary logistical and security facilitation to ensure the commission could carry out its work smoothly and transparently during its stay in the province, reflecting our commitment to enabling it to achieve its objectives effectively and objectively, al-Bakkour said.

The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria announced the conclusion of its first field visit in Sweida and surrounding areas on Tuesday. The visit is part of the commissions regular mandate to document human rights conditions and monitor violations across Syria.

Established by a UN Human Rights Council resolution in 2011, the commission is a leading international body responsible for collecting and analyzing evidence to produce objective reports for the international community.
