Syrian-Saudi talks on funding service and development projects

Damascus, Jan. 7 (SANA)Syrian Finance Minister Mohammed Yusr Barniyeh discussed on Wednesday with a delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development, currently visiting Syria and headed by the Fund's CEO, Sultan bin Abdul Rahman Al-Murshid, ways to finance a number of priority projects for the Syrian government.

During the joint meeting at theMinistry of Financeheadquarters, Minister Barniyeh highlighted the importance of concerted efforts to secure basic services for residents, particularly in camps, noting the urgent need to provide health facilities, schools, energy, and water, in addition to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in development areas.

The Saudi delegation is scheduled to hold talks with several Syrian ministries and agencies to agree on specific projects for financing, within the framework of existing cooperation with the Saudi Fund for Development to provide concessional financing for infrastructure and basic services projects.

On January 6th, Syrian Education Minister Mohammed Abdul Rahman Turko discussed with the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development ways to enhance cooperation in the field of education and advancing the educational process in Syria.
