PanARMENIAN.Net - Syria's Ministry of Defense has announced a ceasefire in Aleppo following several days of intense fighting between government forces and Kurdish armed groups. The truce was declared to halt further escalation and bloodshed, according to 1lurer.am.
Kurdish units have reportedly been given several hours to withdraw from contested districts of Aleppo. As of now, the Syrian Democratic Forces have not publicly responded to this demand.
The clashes have resulted in the deaths of at least 21 civilians, with thousands forced to flee their homes amid the violence.
Previously, Kurdish units were expected to integrate into the national army by the end of 2025, under a deal with Syria's new leadership. However, in recent days, both sides have accused each other of undermining the agreement.
In response to the crisis, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaan held phone calls with the presidents of France and Turkey, emphasizing the need to protect civilians, restore security in Aleppo, and halt unauthorized armed interventions that threaten Syria's reconstruction.
During the clashes, Armenian-populated neighborhoods of Sheikh Taha and Villaner in Aleppo suffered material damage from explosions. No injuries or deaths were reported.
