PanARMENIAN.Net - For the past four days, Armenian-populated neighborhoods in Aleppo have been caught in the crossfire of military clashes between the Syrian government army and the Qasat group, reports Sputnik Armenia, citing Arevelk.
The situation is particularly tense in the Villaner district, where the Holy Mother of God Church is located. Video footage released by local media shows Syrian army tanks deployed in the immediate vicinity.
Another hotspot is the Kabrie roundabout (Tuwarat Kabrie), identified as a focal point of intense battles.
On January 6, clashes broke out between the Syrian Democratic Forces and groups under Damascus' control, resulting in four civilian deaths and 26 injuries.
Fighting escalated on January 8. In response to the rising tension, Syria's Ministry of Defense announced a ceasefire in Aleppo starting at 3:00 a.m. local time (4:00 a.m. Yerevan time) on January 9 to help de-escalate the situation.
